New Apple iPhone XI prototype reveals design, specifications
What's the story
In a bid to match up to competitors like Samsung and Huawei, we know Apple is working to offer its first-ever triple camera setup on the most-premium model of the iPhone XI trio.
And now, prototypes leaked by CompareRaja reveal that the upcoming flagship will feature a new horizontally-stacked rear camera, thinner bezels, smaller notch, and a massive 4,000mAh battery.
Here's all about it.
Final deal?
Apple to favor horizontal camera setup over the square-shaped design
According to the fresh leak, the iPhone XI will sport a horizontal triple camera hub positioned above the Apple logo.
This new design comes as a welcome change over the unaesthetic square-ish camera module we saw in the previous renders.
Interestingly, the new design could be the final deal as CompareRaja claims that the prototype "will surely see the light of the day!"
Top of the line
Triple cameras to offer improved Portrait photography
Further, we expect the triple camera setup to comprise a main RGB sensor, a telephoto sensor, and the new Sony-made 3D ToF sensor.
With the new sensor, Apple can leverage the accurate 3D data to improve image processing and offer high-quality Portrait photography.
Moreover, the 3D sensor will also usher in new possibilities in the world of AR and VR gaming.
Information
Which 2019 iPhone model will sport triple rear cameras?
Recently, the Wall Street Journal claimed that only the top-end iPhone XI Max variant will sport triple rear cameras while the successors to iPhone Xr and iPhone Xs would offer dual rear cameras.
Narrower bezels
iPhone XI to offer higher screen-to-body ratio than iPhone Xs
CompareRaja notes that iPhone XI will sport the same 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display seen on the iPhone Xs along with an IP68-rated built quality.
However, the publication claims that the upcoming model will offer a higher screen-to-body ratio "due to thinner bezels and smaller notch" and may come in a new 'Blue' color variant also.
Notably, iPhone XI will not support 5G connectivity.
Major upgrade
iPhone XI to get 4,000mAh battery with USB Type-C
The fresh leak highlights that the iPhone XI will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery - the largest-ever on any iPhone till date. However, we expect this massive battery to power just the bigger 6.5-inch iPhone XI Max.
Interestingly, Apple is also likely to replace the proprietary Lightning port with USB Type-C on its upcoming flagships - much like the 2018 iPad Pros.
