iPhone 12 or Galaxy S11: Which one will look better?
In 2020, the smartphone wars will no longer be exclusive to camera performance. Instead, battlefronts will expand to include factors like design, high refresh rate displays, faster charging, and GPU performance. Talking of design, Apple will reportedly revamp its 2020 smartphone line-up and introduce a notch-less iPhone 12 that might be appealing enough to eclipse all rivals including the upcoming Galaxy S11.
A whole screen v/s a hole screen
According to China Times, in 2020, Apple will adopt an under-display camera to eliminate the notch that first debuted on the iPhone X in 2017. This will allow Apple to boast of an all-screen design as well as the highest-ever screen-to-body ratio on an iPhone. In comparison, the Galaxy S11 is tipped to feature an Infinity-O display design we saw on the Note 10.
The notch-less iPhone 12 will use in-screen fingerprint reader
The notch-less iPhone is also tipped to debut a "full-screen, acoustic fingerprint ID technology" that will replace the Face ID setup seen on the present batch of iPhones. Notably, full-screen biometric authentication and the in-screen camera technologies are available but aren't really mainstream.
Glass bodies and metal frames aren't going anywhere
There is not much that we know about the Galaxy S11 and iPhone 12 at present. However, given both flagships will offer wireless charging, a glass back is rather obvious. Whether Apple will follow its rivals to adopt bolder gradient colors remains to be seen. Further, both phones will feature sturdier metal frames, and the iPhone 12 is expected to offer a flat-edged design.
iPhone 12 may not get Galaxy S11-like curved edges
Though the Galaxy S11 will not feature an aggressively curved Waterfall display, the screen edges will be rounded just as we saw them on Note 10. Surely, the design looks good but accidental touches and slippery grip are known issues. As for Apple, it has been behind the curve with this design and we don't expect the notch-less iPhone 12 to be an exception.
What else to expect from the two flagships?
Over the past few weeks, some credible leaks have confirmed that the Galaxy S11 will come with a 108MP camera senor, a 90Hz/120Hz SAMOLED display, and 8K video recording support. A bigger battery, faster charging, and flagship-grade internals, are also on the cards. For the iPhone 12, a 120Hz ProMotion display, reverse wireless-charging, USB-C port, and a more powerful A14 chipset are expected.
