iPhone 11 or iPhone Xr: Which one should you buy?
Earlier this month, Apple launched the iPhone 11 as a follow-up to the 2018's low-cost iPhone Xr. The new flagship handset comes with upgraded cameras and a faster processor while retaining some features of its predecessor. However, given the recent price cut and the upcoming attractive offers, should you buy iPhone Xr at a discounted price or go for iPhone 11? Here's our answer.
iPhone 11 v/s iPhone Xr: Design and display
Right of the bat, both phones sport the same 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display with a 1792x828 pixels resolution and Haptic Touch. They also offer the same premium aluminum-glass sandwiched design and IP68-rated build quality. However, on the rear, the single-camera of the iPhone Xr has been replaced with a square-ish dual-lens unit on the iPhone 11. Winner: You be the judge.
For the shutterbugs
The iPhone 11 gets an upgraded dual-lens rear camera setup comprising a 12MP (f/1.8) main sensor and a 12MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide-angle lens with 120-degree field-of-view. In comparison, the iPhone Xr sports a single 12MP (f/1.8) standard wide-angle camera with 5x digital zoom. The setup has helped the phone become the best single-camera smartphone. Winner: iPhone 11 for its new ultra-wide-angle lens.
For the selfie lovers
On the front, the iPhone 11 gets a new 12MP selfie snapper with support for Smart HDR, 4K video recording, 120fps slo-mo videos, and improved Face ID. On the iPhone Xr, there is a 7MP (f/2.2) TrueDepth camera. Winner: iPhone 11.
Under the hood
The iPhone 11 is powered by an industry-leading A13 Bionic chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM whereas iPhone Xr has an A12 Bionic processor and 3GB of RAM. Further, both phones come with 64GB/128GB/256GB of storage, stereo speakers, and wireless charging. As for screen time, the iPhone 11 offers upto an hour more than the all-day battery life of iPhone Xr. Winner: iPhone 11.
Pricing: The key factor
In India, the iPhone Xr was launched at Rs. 76,900 for the 64GB storage variant. However, with the latest price revision, Apple has brought down the starting price to Rs. 49,900. In comparison, the iPhone 11 is priced at Rs. 64,900 for the 64GB variant.
How things stack up?
The iPhone 11 gets a couple of big upgrades over iPhone Xr including the new cameras, the improved processor, and a marginally longer battery life. However, the difference of Rs. 15,000 between the two phones is considerable. Hence, if you're looking to enter the iOS world and can settle with a respectable single camera and near-flagship experience, the iPhone Xr is still worth it.
