Confirmed: Apple iPhone 11 to launch on September 10
Apple has scheduled an event for September 10, calling people from the media to witness the launch of its next big product - the iPhone 11. The launch, as always, will be taking place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, the headquarters of the company. Here's all you need to know about the launch and the upcoming iPhones.
Apple says 'By Innovation Only'
The invite for the 'special event' doesn't say much about what the company is going to unveil, but recent reports and Apple's previous launches indicate that it's time to witness the new iPhone 11 family. It will start at 10 am PT, which means fans in India would be able to live stream the launch at 10:30 pm on September 10.
What the new iPhones would look like
Notably, Apple is expected to launch three iPhone 11 models (iPhone 11,11 Pro, 11r), with two retaining OLED displays, while the third keeping an LCD panel. Going by leaks, their basic design won't change by a significant margin but you will see a square-ish camera module on the devices. It will host an improved dual or triple camera setup depending on the model.
New features, faster processor coming too
Among other things, the new iPhones would also boast a range of new features, including a faster A13 processor, an all-new taptic engine to replace 3D Touch, and improved battery life and Face ID security. Plus, the iPhones are also rumored to offer support for bidirectional wireless charging, allowing you to charge AirPods seamlessly, and a revolutionary new shatter-resistance technology.
New names also likely to be given
Along with the specs, Apple is also expected to change the naming scheme of the new iPhones. A recent report citing leaked documents indicated that the company might name the successor to iPhone XR as iPhone 11. Meanwhile, the 2019 upgrade for iPhone Xs and Xs Max could be called iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
We could also get some news about Apple Watch, services
Every year, the launch of iPhones is paired with some other big announcement from the Cupertino giant. Last year, it was a new Apple Watch, which means we could see an upgrade in the form of Apple Watch Series 5 this time around. The company could also share more about the service it has been planning to launch.
