Bright display spots affect some iPad Pro models: Details here
Apple's new iPad Pros are pretty impressive, but even today, many still use the predecessor of the tablet - one that was launched in 2017. Now, some of these users complained that the display of their months-old iPad has developed a weird bright spot. It appears a few inches above the home button, marring the whole experience. Here's more on the issue.
Bright spot developing over home button
As Macrumors reported, multiple users have taken to Apple communities and other public forums to highlight the weird display issue. They alleged that an extra white spot is appearing approximately 2-inch above home button, making the whole display unevenly lit. The complaints date back to April and have grown over the months, with many claiming that the issue developed after months of usage.
Complaint from one user on Apple communities
"I have a bright spot about 1-2 inches above the home button on my iPad...I noticed the white spot last week when I was looking at some white background content, the spot does not appear on darker colors like black, grey, blue," a user said.
So, why is this happening?
Apple has not commented on the matter, but the spot mark seen in pictures looks like a pressure mark. It could be occurring due to some issue with the backlight in that area. Notably, some users, whose iPad Pros were within warranty, were able to get the models replaced, while others are being asked to pay a display-replacement fee by Apple.
Could this occur on 2018 iPad Pro models?
There's no way to be sure about 2018 iPad Pro models, because they are just a few months old and this particular issue seems to occur after months of usage. It has only affected some 10.5-inch and 12-inch models of the 2017 iPad Pro at this stage, but the true scale of the problem is yet to be determined.
