Apple's new iPad Pro to boast M4 chip, AI features
Apple's upcoming iPad Pro models could be equipped with the advanced M4 chip, skipping the M3 chip, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This unexpected move is part of the company's strategy to highlight the AI capabilities of its new iPad series. The M4 chip, which will also include an enhanced Neural Engine, is expected to be integrated into Macs later this year. Apple's "Let Loose" event, scheduled for May 7, is expected to unveil the new-generation iPads.
What else to expect from upcoming iPad Pro?
The introduction of the M4 chip in the new iPad Pro range will mark a significant shift for Apple. The tablet is also expected to feature an OLED display, a relocated FaceTime front camera, an updated Magic Keyboard, and a new Apple Pencil with haptic feedback.
Apple's first truly AI-powered device
It remains uncertain which AI features will be ready by May 7, since most of Apple's AI software development is scheduled for iOS 18 at WWDC in June. Gurman has indicated a "strong possibility" that the new iPad Pro will be Apple's first truly AI-powered device. He stated, "I believe Apple will position the tablet as its first truly AI-powered device — and that it will tout each new product from then on as an AI device."
