Truecaller on iPhone will finally show who's calling you
Truecaller has announced that its Live Caller ID feature will be integrated into the upcoming iOS 18 update. This development was confirmed by Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi in a recent post on X. The new feature is expected to enhance the user experience by providing real-time caller identification, without the need for Siri's assistance.
CEO's announcement and iOS 18 rollout
The integration of Truecaller's Live Caller ID feature with iPhones coincides with Apple's planned rollout of the iOS 18 update on September 16. Mamedi stated, "From the iOS 18 feature release documentation :) Soon we will hopefully hear people say 'Truecaller finally works on iPhone.'" He also shared a screenshot from the iOS 18 documentation that revealed details about this new feature for iPhones.
How will the live Caller ID feature work?
The Live Caller ID feature from Truecaller is designed to help users identify unknown callers by providing information about their names or locations. It also flags potential spam or fraud calls, allowing users to decide whether to answer or ignore them. The update aims to simplify the previously cumbersome process of accessing this feature on iPhones.
Truecaller's journey and privacy concerns
Truecaller has faced criticism over alleged unauthorized data collection. However, the company has denied any wrongdoing. Mamedi acknowledged that while Truecaller has been functioning on iPhones for the past two years, its integration with iOS 18 will make it work as users expect it to. This development comes after a period of difficulty due to restrictions imposed by Apple's iOS ecosystem on apps like Truecaller.
