What's the story

In a month from now, Apple will host WWDC and unveil its highly-anticipated software product - the iOS 13. The update is expected to offer some fancy new features and a bunch of upgrades over the current iOS. However, sadly enough, a new report has indicated that the operating system may not offer support for some actively selling iPhones. Here are the details.

Support

iOS 13 will not working on iPhone 6, older generations

Citing a source familiar with Apple's plans, French website iPhonesoft.fr has reported that iOS 13 won't offer support for outdated iPhones and iPads. They have released a list of non-supported devices, noting that iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPad Mini 2, and the original iPad Air will fall on the chopping block. Now, that's some worrying piece of news.

Issue

This could be a major bummer for iPhone owners

If this report turns out to be true, iPhone owners could be in for a major disappointment. The reason being the success of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; both models have been dominating as the best selling iPhones since their release in 2014. In fact, in India, they are still selling in big numbers, along with iPhone SE, thanks to their reduced price tag.

Possibility

We recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt

However, it's also worth noting that this is just a rumor and there's no document, statement, or evidence to back the claim made by this site. Plus, in our opinion, it would also be pretty weird to see the end of support for the iPhone 6 series, especially considering how good Apple has been in terms of software support.

Information

iOS 11, 12 offered broader support

With iOS 11, Apple supported all iPhone models going back to the 5s. A year later, many expected the company would end support for some models but that didn't happen and Apple maintained iOS 12 support for all iOS 11 devices while improving their performance.

Features

Meanwhile, what to expect from iOS 13

Meanwhile, iOS 13 is expected to bring a number of improvements, including subtle interface changes, a system-wide dark mode, new volume HUD, and redesigned animations. Additionally, the update will support keyboard gestures for typing and an improved Health app, Mail app, and iMessage, Apple might also introduce deeper multi-tasking functions for iPad with the new operating system.
