Don't update! iOS 12.1.2 bug can break mobile data connectivity
Just a couple of weeks back, we reported about a critical cellular data-killing bug associated with iOS 12.1.1. Now, Apple has pushed a new update, but instead of fixing the glitch, the new version 12.1.2 seems to have made the problem even worse. And, according to Forbes, complaints are flooding in from all over the globe. Here's more on the issue.
iOS 12.1.2 rushed to avoid China sales ban
Apple released iOS 12.1.2 with minor fixes and a change in app-closing animation for China, designed specifically to avoid the recently-imposed sales ban in the country. The changelog noted that the update patched eSIM activation problems on iPhone Xr, Xs, and Xs Max as well as the issue that could have caused cellular connectivity issues on the three devices in Turkey.
But now, the problem has expanded
As the update was expected to terminate issues related to cellular connectivity, users rushed to download it. But, as Forbes reported, instead of getting fixed, the problem now seems to have expanded to most iPhone models and continents. Users from different countries, many being from India itself, have taken to Twitter to report that the update is breaking mobile data connection on their iPhones.

Due to this issue, iPhone users are being forced to go on a lookout for Wi-Fi; some have even claimed that the update has destroyed cellular network completely, leading to calling issues. The complaints are widespread and it is impossible to determine the actual scale of the problem. But, one thing is pretty clear - Apple's customers are not happy at the moment.
No response from Apple, but testing for iOS 12.1.3 started
So far, Apple has not issued an official comment on the matter. Its support teams have been replying to customers' complaints, telling them to update carrier settings or restart phones, but none of that seems to have worked. However, the good news is, the Cupertino giant has started beta testing of iOS 12.1.3, which might bring a fix for all these problems.
