Now you can share music in Instagram DMs: Here's how
What's the story
In a bid to compete with other direct-messaging platforms such as Apple's iMessage and a host of third-party apps, Instagram is adding a bunch of new features to its messaging system.
The update brings a music-sharing feature, letting you share songs in individual and group chats.
You just have to select the "Music" option from the sticker tray to get Instagram's audio library's search bar.
Feature restrictions
Instagram's music-sharing feature comes with limitations
However, the music-sharing feature on Instagram does have a couple of limitations.
First, the song should be available via Instagram and clips are limited to 30 seconds.
This restriction ensures that only the content available in the platform's audio library can be shared, limiting the duration of these shared clips to keep the user experience uniform across all chats.
Enhanced communication
Instagram introduces translation tool and message pinning
Along with music sharing, Instagram's update also brings a translation tool supporting 99 languages.
To use this, you just have to hold down a message and select "Translate." The translated text will then appear directly beneath the original message.
Another new feature lets you pin messages, images or even Reels on top of chats by holding down the message and selecting "Pin."
User convenience
Instagram's message scheduling and group chat invitation
Instagram also lets you schedule messages by long-pressing the send button. The feature can be used to plan messages as far as 29 days in advance.
Plus, the platform has also introduced a way for users to invite people into a group chat using a QR code.
These new tools are part of Instagram's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and compete with other messaging platforms.
