#OutageAlert: Facebook, Messenger, Instagram all down worldwide
As the US gears up to celebrate Thanksgiving, the leading social network of the country has gone down. Yes, once again, Facebook is suffering from a major outage, which has affected people using Instagram, Messenger, the main Facebook app all over the world. Even users in India are dealing with the annoying glitch. Here's more about the issue.
Instagram, Facebook, Messenger creating problems for users
Over the last couple of hours, a number of users have reported issues while trying to use Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Complaints have flooded DownDetector, a trusted site witnessing platform outages, with users reporting problems like not being able to reload their feed, share stories, or post new content on their profile among many other issues.
Facebook confirmed the outage, says it's working on a fix
As complaints surfaced, Facebook confirmed the outage and issued a statement saying it's working on a fix. "We're aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook's family of apps," the company's spokesperson told The Next Web. "We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible." Notably, the outage doesn't appear to have affected WhatsApp, another Facebook product, at all.
Reason remains unclear at this stage
The Facebook spokesperson didn't say much about what has caused this outage. However, the issue appears to have affected users around the globe, including those in the US East Coast, Central Europe, and East Asia, with a varying degree of impact. This means some people are having problems while using certain features while others aren't having any hiccups.
Indians mainly witnessing issues with Instagram
According to outage reports on DownDetector, people in India, particularly those in Delhi NCR, are witnessing more problems while using Instagram than on Facebook or Messenger. It remains unclear when the services would be restored back to normal, but - keeping privacy-related grudges aside - this is certainly the most basic thing the biggest social network on the planet is expected to do right.
