Infinix to launch a cheaper S5 variant in mid-November: Report
Infinix is set to launch a more affordable variant of its camera-centric S5 smartphone in India by mid-November. According to 91Mobiles, the upcoming model will be positioned below the existing 4GB/64GB variant, suggesting it'll be a cheaper handset with lesser RAM and storage. However, like the current S5, it'll sport a punch-hole design, quad rear cameras, physical fingerprint scanner, and entry-level internals. Here's more.
Infinix S5: At a glance
The Infinix S5 features a punch-hole design with ultra-slim borders on three sides and a thick bezel at the bottom to offer a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio. On the rear, the polycarbonate panel houses a vertically stacked quad-camera unit and a physical fingerprint sensor. Further, the phone sports a 6.6-inch LCD display with an HD+ (720x1600 pixels) resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Infinix S5 houses a quad rear camera setup comprising a 16MP (f/1.8) main sensor, 5MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2MP Super Macro lens, and another 2MP sensor to capture depth details. The main camera, accompanied by a quad-LED flash, offers photography features like HDR, panorama, and supports 1080p video recording at 30fps. Up front, the phone houses a 32MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper.
Under the hood
The Infinix S5 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Under the hood, the phone runs on Android Pie-based XOS 5.5 and packs a solid 4,000mAh battery. Further, it offers all standard sensors and latest connectivity options including support for dual-SIMs (Nano), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, micro-USB port, and headphone jack.
Finally, how much will it cost?
The new model will reportedly be positioned below the existing 4GB/64GB model, which costs Rs. 8,999 in India. Hence, we expect the upcoming variant to cost somewhere around Rs. 8,000 and take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy M10s and Redmi 8A.
