IbisPaint's new tool protects artwork from being copied by AI
Popular drawing app, IbisPaint, has introduced an innovative feature called the 'AI Disturbance' tool, in a significant move to protect artists' content from unauthorized use in AI training. This unique tool disrupts AI image generation by applying noise to illustrations, making it difficult for AI to accurately interpret or replicate the artwork. According to IbisPaint, the effectiveness of the disturbance effect increases with higher noise intensity. IbisPaint boasts over 15,000 brushes, 21,000 materials, and stroke stabilization feature, alongside other tools.
How the tool works in IbisPaint
The AI Disturbance tool, when activated in IbisPaint, makes the created image appear somewhat grainier. Artists have the flexibility to determine the level of noise they want to apply based on their willingness to impact their work and can adjust it accordingly. Accessing this feature is straightforward. Users simply have to click the back button and choose to save their artwork, at which point they can opt to turn on AI Disturbance and adjust its intensity.
Caution regarding 'AI Disturbance'
Despite its benefits, IbisPaint has issued a cautionary note to its users regarding the feature. The company states that the effectiveness of the disturbance effect depends on the AI and the fine-tuning algorithms used. It further clarifies that this feature does not guarantee that the disturbance effect will be achieved in every situation, indicating a level of variability based on different AI systems and their respective algorithms.
