Huawei P30 Pro to feature four cameras, waterdrop notched display
As the successor to its popular camera-centric P20 Pro flagship, Huawei is expected to launch the P30 Pro early next year. According to reports, the phone will feature a curved display with waterdrop notch and a quad rear-camera setup. Moreover, considering it will be a flagship model, P30 Pro would come with Kirin 980 chipset and top-end internals. Here's everything we know, so far.
Huawei P30 Pro: At a glance
Though Huawei has already teased its new in-screen camera design on the Nova 4, reputed tipster @IceUniverse claimed that P30 Pro will come with a notched display. He added that the upcoming flagship will sport a curved display made either by China's BOE or LG. Interestingly, leaked images of P30 Pro's alleged screen protectors also reveal a waterdrop-like notch.
Huawei P30 Pro to offer quad cameras with 38MP sensor
Huawei P30 Pro will reportedly sport a Leica-made quad rear-camera setup with dual-LED flash and Laser Autofocus. And while details of the camera setup are scarce, a previous report claimed that the phone will feature a 38MP Sony IMX607 image sensor. This might be plausible given Huawei has already worked with Sony to use the IMX600 sensor in the Mate 20 series.
Here's an overview of Sony's 38MP IMX607 image sensor
The details of this new sensor were recently leaked in an alleged official document posted on Weibo. As per the leak, the Sony IMX607 is a 38MP 1/1.8-inch CMOS with "exceptional low-illumination performance". GizmoChina reported the sensor will "use a Dual Bayer instead of Quad Bayer with White HDR Coding array, high signal-to-noise ratio, quad-pixel PDAF, advanced noise reduction and three native ISOs (50/500/5000)."
Huawei P30 Pro should pack flagship internals
Considering P30 Pro is a flagship device, we expect to see the latest 7nm HiSilicon 980 chipset, upto 8GB RAM, upto 256GB of storage and Android Pie-based EMUI 9. Further, the upcoming phone should borrow some features from Mate 20 Pro such as an in-display fingerprint sensor and wireless charging. However, don't expect 3D face unlock, given P30 Pro has a smaller display cut-out.
