Huawei's foldable phone will launch in India later this year
Mate X, Huawei's first-ever foldable phone, is coming to India soon. The Indian division of Huawei Consumer Business Group has confirmed that the premium foldable phone will launch in the country later this year. And while the company has not shared a specific release date, the Mate X will be available globally in mid-2019. Here's everything to know.

"India is an important market for us and we have been consistently investing and expanding our footprint in the market," said Wally Yang, Huawei Consumer Business Group's Senior Product Marketing Director. "We want our customers here [in India] to witness Huawei's global 5G technological strength, and experience this [Mate X] technology marvel."
Meanwhile, here's recalling the Mate X
The Huawei Mate X features a main 8-inch OLED display which folds into a dual-screen smartphone with a 6.6-inch front display and a 6.38-inch rear display. The phone also features a Lecia-engineered 40MP+16MP+8MP triple camera setup. Under the hood, it comes with a Kirin 980 chipset, paired with Balong 5000 5G chipset, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast-charging support
Mate X will arrive in India at around Rs. 1,80,000
Huawei Mate X comes with a price tag of 2,299 euros. By direct currency conversion, it is approximately Rs. 1,80,000. However, given the taxes, the price may go up to Rs. 2,00,000.
Mate X's rival Galaxy Fold is also coming to India
Recently, Samsung Mobile Chief DJ Koh confirmed that it will also launch Galaxy Fold in India later this year. The foldable phone is priced at $1,980 and it could arrive in India at around Rs. 1,40,000. Globally, the Galaxy Fold will go on sale starting April 26. Hence, we can expect Samsung to bring the Galaxy Fold in India around the same time.
