    What's the story

Huawei Mate X, which was unveiled in February and slated to release in mid-2019, will become available in a couple of months.

According to a prematurely-posted listing on VMall - Huawei's official online store for China - the premium foldable phone will go on sale in June.

Meanwhile, the company has confirmed that Mate X would also be launched in India.

    Here's our roundup.

    Coming soon?

Huawei Mate X may release globally in June

While the VMall listing confirms that Mate X would start shipping from June in China, it remains unclear when it would arrive in India or other major markets.

However, going by Huawei's announcement that the device would be made available from mid-2019, we expect a global release of Mate X in June itself.

    Design and display

Meanwhile, here's recalling the Huawei Mate X

Huawei's Mate X sports a single notch-less display which folds into a smartphone like form-factor with dual displays. The device has ultra-slim bezels, a metallic frame, and a holdable "wing".

In the unfolded state, it offers a main 8-inch (2480x2200 pixels) OLED display which folds into a 6.6-inch (2480x1148 pixels) front display and a 6.38-inch (2480x892 pixels) rear display.

    Information

Mate X offers a triple rear camera setup

The Mate X sports a LEICA-engineered triple camera setup comprising a 40MP (wide-angle sensor), 16MP (ultra-wide-angle sensor) and an 8MP (telephoto sensor). Notably, when the device is folded, this setup doubles up as a selfie camera.

    Internals

    Under the hood

Mate X is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Under the hood, the foldable phone packs a 4,500mAh battery and supports 55W fast charging support via a USB Type-C port.

In terms of software, it runs EMUI 9.1.1 on top of Android Pie.

    Information

Mate X will arrive in India at around Rs. 1,80,000

Huawei Mate X comes with a price tag of 2,299 euros. By direct currency conversion, it is approximately Rs. 1,80,000. However, given the taxes, the price may go up to Rs. 2,00,000.

    Competition

Mate X's rival Galaxy Fold is also coming to India

Separately, Samsung Mobile Chief DJ Koh has confirmed that it would launch Galaxy Fold in India later this year.

The foldable phone is priced at $1,980 and it could arrive in the country at around Rs. 1,40,000.

Globally, the Galaxy Fold will go on sale starting April 26. Hence, we can expect Samsung to bring Galaxy Fold in India around the same time.
