Huawei Mate X launched in China, price starts at $2,400
After a lot of delay, Chinese tech giant Huawei has finally launched the Mate X in its home country. The premium foldable phone, priced at 16,999 yuan ($2,400 or roughly Rs. 1,70,700), will be available in China from November 15. As for its availability in international markets, a company spokesperson (via CNET) has said that a "global launch plan is under review."
Huawei Mate X will run on open-source Android platform
The Huawei Mate X will run an open-source version of Android that won't have any Google apps and services. This is due to the ongoing trade war between the US and China wherein the former has imposed a trade ban on Huawei.

Meanwhile, as far as its specifications are concerned, it sports a single notch-less display that folds into a smartphone-like form factor with dual displays. The device has ultra-slim bezels, a metallic frame, a holdable "wing", and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. In the unfolded state, it offers a main 8-inch (2480x2200 pixels) OLED display which folds into a 6.6-inch (2480x1148 pixels) front display and a 6.38-inch (2480x892 pixels) rear display.
The phone offers a triple-lens rear camera setup
The Mate X sports a LEICA-engineered triple-lens camera setup comprising a 40MP (wide-angle sensor), 16MP (ultra-wide-angle sensor) and an 8MP (telephoto sensor). Notably, when the device is folded, this setup doubles up as a selfie camera.
Under the hood
The Mate X is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Under the hood, the foldable phone packs a 4,500mAh battery and supports 55W fast charging support via a USB Type-C port. In terms of software, it runs an open-source Android OS and lacks support for Google services like Play Store, Assistant, YouTube and others.
