Huawei Honor 9 with dual-camera setup, fingerprint scanner launched
Putting speculations and rumors to rest, Huawei's online brand Honor has finally unveiled its much-awaited flagship Honor 9 smartphone. Although this is going to be a China release, chances are it will soon make its way to Asia's fastest growing smartphone market, India. Here's all you need to know to decide if this is going to be your next smartphone purchase.
What's the pocket pinch?
Honor 9 comes in three different variants; 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage will cost approximately Rs. 21,780, while the 6GB RAM and 64GB internal memory will set you back by Rs. 25,570 and the biggie, which has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, can be purchased for roughly Rs. 28,419. You'll get to choose from Blue, Amber Gold, Gray and Black color options.
What's under the hood?
The phone has a fingerprint scanner and packs in a 2.4GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor backed by Mali G71 MP8 GPU, coupled with your choice of 4GB/6GB RAM. In case you are not happy with the 64GB/128GB of internal storage, you can also ramp it up a notch, as it gives you the freedom to do so via its microSD card slot.
Expect sharp, vibrant pictures
The Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch full HD, 2.5D curved glass display and sports a dual camera setup of 20-megapixels and 12-megapixels with latest fringes such as, Geo-tagging, touch focus and a dual tone LED flash; the primary back camera also supports 4K video recording. For selfie enthusiasts, it boasts an 8-megapixel camera in the front with f/2.0 aperture.
Fast charging is a necessity these days
The OS is Android 7.0 Nougat with the company's proprietary EMUI 5.1 and like all new models, it has 4G LTE with VoLTE. Honor 9 has a USB Type-C port, which is necessary to provide fast charging to the 3200 mAh battery and thankfully, a 3.5 headphone jack. The handset also has NFC, Infrared sensor, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi and a Hybrid Dual SIM tray.
