WhatsApp is today the biggest platform for one-on-one messaging. In India alone, there are more than 200mn active users on WhatsApp. These 200mn speak a variety of languages- Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Kannada and Gujarati, among several others. Keeping the diversity in mind, the tool allows us to use it in all these languages, and more. Here's how you can avail this feature.
Follow these steps to change language in the app
To change the language within the app, open WhatsApp and tap on the menu button (three dots on the top right corner), then click on Settings. Head to Chat, then go to App Language. You will see a whole list of available languages. Choose your preferred one to change the app's default language. The list of available options will depend on the phone's capabilities.
Since WhatsApp follows phone's language, here's your guide for Android
As a rule, WhatsApp adopts the language of the phone. So if your default language is set to Hindi, WhatsApp will automatically start operating in Hindi too. If you wish to change the language of your Android handset, you can open Settings, then click on 'Languages and Input.' Click on Languages, then select your preferred language. You will find WhatsApp has also changed its language.
Here's how you can change language on iOS
For iPhones, go to Settings, then tap on General. Click on 'Language & Region' and select 'iPhone Language.' Choose your preferred language from the list.
