Despite having a good high-speed broadband plan, you may face poor internet speed, inconsistent connections, and weak signal strength. So, here are some tips and tricks you can try to fix your Wi-Fi woes.
Switch to a better frequency
If you're using a dual-band Wi-Fi router, you can always switch from 2.4GHz signal to 5.0GHz. It offers better throughput, which means you will get faster speeds. Your connection is also likely to face less interference from other networks considering the 5GHz frequency is not as commonly used as 2.4GHz. However, this signal is good for close proximity connections only.
Find a good place for placing your router
Your Wi-Fi wireless coverage may get affected depending on where you place the router. For optimum results, try and place it somewhere in the center of your house and in an open space rather than in a cabinet or near a window. It should also be kept away from heavy appliances and electronics since they can also impact Wi-Fi performance.
Try using repeaters and extenders to boost wireless coverage
Since a router can transmit wireless signals only up to a limit, distance is one of the key issues. If there are too many dead zones, obstructions, and walls to penetrate, the Wi-Fi strength will drop. To tackle this, you can use repeaters and extenders that will pick up the existing signal from your router and rebroadcast it for improved coverage.
