#TechBytes: How to delete your Netflix viewing history
When you use a joint Netflix account, there's a good chance that your account partner might take a peek at your profile and see what you've been watching. Normally, this is not an issue because everybody knows it's a shared account. But in some cases, you may need a way to hide your watch history from your friend. Here's the way to do that.
Deleting viewing history on Netflix
In its current form, Netflix records viewing history by default. There is no option to change that setting, but you can delete certain parts of your viewing history, like a specific TV show or movie you had watched. This will remove the movie/show from the Netflix player and the service will reportedly no longer consider it for showing personalized recommendations to you.
How to delete viewed movie/show on Netflix
To delete viewing history, open Netflix's desktop website and log into the shared account. After logging in, head over to your profile and select the 'Account' option after clicking on the profile picture icon in the upper right corner. Scroll down on the landing page and click on the 'Viewing activity' option in the 'My Profile' section.
Viewing activity will let you delete watch history
On the viewing activity page, you will find a list of every single show/movie you've watched on Netflix. Every item here will have a circled backlash, which you can click for removing that item and therefore wiping it from your watched history on the Netflix app. Notably, if you're removing a TV show episode, Netflix will give the prompt to hide the entire series.
How to remove entire viewing history
In case you want to remove the complete viewing history, head over to the bottom of the page and click on 'Hide all'. This particular option, as the name suggests, will hide your entire viewing activity on Netflix, thereby making your entire watch history clean. However, do note here that any change you make will take 24 hours to reflect in your Netflix account.
