Whether you have an Android or iOS device, the process is simple. Choose a song, edit it to the perfect length, and set it as your ringtone.
Read this article to learn how to get your favorite tunes welcoming you to every call.
Song selection
Find and edit your song
Start by choosing a legally owned song you want to use for your ringtone.
Android users can edit it using Ringtone Maker, while iOS users can utilize GarageBand.
Try to cut it down to a 20-30 second clip that encapsulates the vibe of the track.
Voila! You just customized your phone with a unique ringtone.
Format conversion
Convert and transfer
After you've cut your song snippet, you need to make sure it's in a format that your phone can use as a ringtone.
For Android, that means MP3 format, while iPhones need ringtones in M4R format.
Plenty of free online converters can do the job without losing sound quality.
Just upload your file, choose the format you need, and download your ringtone-ready track.
Android setup
Set as ringtone on Android
For Android users, once your trimmed and converted masterpiece is complete, connect your phone to a computer and simply drag and drop the file into the Ringtones folder of your device.
Or, if you used an app like Ringtone Maker, you can bypass the computer transfer. Many of these apps let you set your new ringtone right from the app itself!
iOS setup
Set as ringtone on iOS
For this step, iOS users require iTunes or Finder (in case of macOS Catalina or newer).
Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes or Finder.
Choose "Tones" from the sidebar and simply drag and drop your M4R file here. Now, sync tones with your iPhone.
Post syncing, navigate to Settings > Sounds and Haptics > Ringtone on your iPhone. Your custom tone will appear alongside default options.
