    What's the story

Expanding its portfolio of smartphones, Huawei's sub-brand Honor has launched the V30 Pro and V30 handsets in China.

The key highlights of the handsets are their punch-hole design, dual-mode 5G connectivity, 40MP triple rear cameras, and flagship-grade internals.

Meanwhile, these smartphones will be launched at a later date as Honor View 30 and View 30 Pro in the international markets.

    Here's our roundup.

    Design and display

A look at both the smartphones

Both the Honor V30 and V30 Pro offer an edge-to-edge screen with a small display cut-out at the top-left corner to boast of a 91.46% screen-to-body ratio.

On the rear, they house a vertically stacked triple camera unit along with LED flash.

Further, both smartphones offer a 6.57-inch LCD display with a full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

    Cameras

For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers

The V30 Pro houses a triple rear camera setup comprising a 40MP (f/1.6) main sensor, 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle sensor, and an 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens. On the other hand, the standard V30 houses a similar camera setup but with a smaller 8MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide-angle lens.

Up front, both phones house a 32MP (f/2.0) primary sensor and an 8MP (f/2.2) secondary telephoto lens.

    Internals

    Under the hood

The Honor V30 Pro and V30 are powered by a Kirin 990 processor, paired with upto 8GB RAM and upto 256GB storage (128GB storage on V30). Under the hood, the former is backed by a 4,100mAh battery, while the latter packs a more powerful 4,200mAh battery.

Moreover, both phones support 40W wired fast-charging technology, but the Pro model also gets 27W wireless fast-charging.

    Information

    Connectivity options and sensor details

Both Honor V30 Pro and V30 offer support for the latest connectivity options including dual-SIMs, 5G support, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and Type-C port. However, they lack a headphone jack. Lastly, both models offer all standard sensors including an accelerometer, proximity, gyroscope and e-compass.

    Pricing

    And, what about pricing?

The Honor V30 comes at a starting price of CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 33,000), while the more premium V30 Pro starts at CNY 3,899 (roughly Rs. 39,000).

There is no word on the availability of the smartphones outside China yet. However, the company has confirmed that it will launch the handsets as Honor View 30 Pro and View 30 in global markets.
