Honor launches budget-friendly Play 9A smartphone with 5,000mAh battery
As an addition to its portfolio of budget smartphones, Huawei's sub-brand Honor has launched the Play 9A in China. The handset comes with a waterdrop notched design, a dual camera setup, a physical fingerprint scanner, and a solid 5,000mAh battery. However, there is no official word on its availability in international markets as of now. Here are more details.
Honor Play 9A: At a glance
Quite like the other budget smartphones, the Honor Play 9A sports a waterdrop notched design with a prominent bezel at the bottom. The handset comes with a 6.3-inch LCD screen with an HD+ (720x1600 pixels) resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. Apart from that, it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
In terms of optics, the Honor Play 9A houses a dual-lens rear camera setup comprising a 13MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, coupled with another 2MP lens to capture depth details. Up front, the handset offers an 8MP (f/2.0) snapper for selfies and video calling. Moreover, both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.
Under the hood
The Honor Play 9A is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The phone runs Android 10-based Magic UI 3.0.1 and packs a solid 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast-charging support. The standard connectivity options on the phone include support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

As for the pocket-pinch, the Honor Play 9A costs CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 9,500) for the 4GB/64GB variant and CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs. 12,700) for the top-tier 4GB/128GB model. Meanwhile, the company is yet to announce the availability details of the handset in international markets.
