Honor Play 7: A budget smartphone with 24MP selfie camera
Expanding its portfolio of budget smartphones, Chinese smartphone maker Honor has launched Honor Play 7 in its home country. With its latest smartphone, the Huawei-owned brand is offering a massive 24-MP selfie camera, a decent 3,020mAh battery at a competitive price tag of CNY 599 (approximately Rs. 6,400). Honor Play 7 features a 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. With support for dual-SIM (Nano), the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and packs a 3,020mAh battery.

The Honor Play 7 comes with an eye protection mode that applies a filter to reduce blue light on the display. Moreover, the phone also comes with handy shortcuts including smart volume control capabilities, three-finger screenshot, and double tap to wake up the display.

In terms of optics, the Honor Play 7 sports a single rear camera with a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, autofocus, and 4x digital zoom. On the front, the phone offers a massive 24-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, soft light LED flash, and beauty mode for enhancing selfies and video calling.
Connectivity options and sensors onboard Honor Play 7
The Honor Play 7 supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2 with LE, GLONASS, GPS, micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard the smartphone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor. Notably, the phone relies on passcode/pattern for unlocking as there is no fingerprint sensor or face unlock technology. The device weighs 142gm and its dimensions are 146.5x70.9x8.3mm.
