Honor Magic 2 with six cameras, Kirin 980 processor launched
HuAwei-owned Honor has launched its most-advanced smartphone to date - the Honor Magic 2 - back home in China. The latest flagship features an all-screen slider design, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a triple-camera setup both at the front and back, and top-end internals including the Kirin 980 chipset. Honor Magic 2: At a glance
Up front, the phone sports an all-screen design with an ultra-slim bottom bezel to boast a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio. This design is achieved by adopting a manual sliding front-camera which also houses 3D face scanning gadgetry. On the back, there's a triple rear-camera setup and a dual-tone gradient glass panel. Honor Magic 2 features a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340) AMOLED display with 403ppi pixel density.
Honor Magic 2 packs a total of six cameras
On the back, the Magic 2 sports a triple camera setup comprising a 16MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, paired with a 24MP (f/1.8) monochrome sensor and a 16MP (f/2.2) super wide-angle lens. Up front, the sliding camera module also packs a triple camera setup comprising a 16MP (f/2.0) main sensor, along with a 2MP+2MP (f/2.4) dual-lens setup which assists in 3D face unlock.
The phone also packs an in-display fingerprint sensor
The Honor Magic 2, apart from 3D face unlock feature, comes with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. Further, in terms of connectivity, the phone supports dual SIM cards, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/c (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.
Under the hood
The phone is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of non-expandable internal storage. The Honor Magic 2 runs EMUI 9.0 but Android Pie-based Magic UI 2.0 will be made available as an OTA update in some time. Under the hood, there's a 3,500mAh battery which supports 40W Magic Charge fast charging technology.
Pricing and availability
In China, the Magic 2 costs CNY 3,799 (approx. Rs. 40,300) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant, CNY 4,299 (approx. Rs. 45,600) for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant, and CNY 4,799 (approx. Rs. 50,100) for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant. The phone will go on sale in China on November 6 via the company's VMall e-store.
