Honor Magic 2 on Geekbench: Kirin 980, Android Pie confirmed
Huawei-owned Honor will launch its latest flagship smartphone - the Magic 2 - on October 31 in China. However, the phone has now been spotted on Geekbench, revealing its key details like the Kirin 980 processor, 8GB RAM, and Android Pie operating system. Further, the Honor Magic 2 was recently leaked in full-glory, confirming major design features and other specs. Here's everything we know.
Firstly, what is Geekbench and Geekbench's scores?
Geekbench is a cross-platform processor benchmark platform which grades processors on their single-core and multi-core performances. While calculating multi-core scores, Geekbench runs multiple streams of instructions simultaneously per core and reports an aggregate score. With single-core scores, the same process is applied but on a single core. Notably, the quicker a CPU completes the instructions, the higher is its Geekbench score.
What does Honor Magic 2's Geekbench listing tell us?
According to the Geekbench listing, the Honor Magic 2 will be powered by the all-new HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM. Further, the listing also confirms that the flagship will run Android Pie out-of-the-box. Lastly, in terms of scores, the phone reached a single-core score of 3,316 and 9,534 for multiple cores, beating other Snapdragon 845-powered devices like OnePlus 6T.
Honor Magic 2 looks a lot like Mi Mix 3
Recently, Chinese actress Zanilla Zhao shared several live images of Magic 2, revealing the design and key features of the phone. Up front, the Honor flagship looks a lot like the newly launched Mi Mix 3 with an all-screen display, ultra-slim bottom bezel, and a manual camera slider. On the back, there's a triple-camera setup housed in a glass panel with gradient mirror finish.
Interestingly, Honor Magic 2 is rumored to sport six cameras
A recent TENAA listing suggests Honor Magic 2 will be the world's first smartphone to sport a total of six cameras. Up front, the phone is said to pack a 16MP+20MP+2MP triple camera setup. On the back, the Honor Magic is likely to pack a 16MP+24MP+16MP triple camera setup. Further, both front and rear cameras will come packed with several AI-powered features.

According to the TENAA listing, Honor Magic 2 will feature a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by an octa-core 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Further, the phone will pack a 3,400mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging and run Android Pie.
