Honor launches its first mobile phones with pop-up selfie cameras
Huawei's sub-brand Honor has launched two new premium mid-range smartphones in China. Dubbed as Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X, the handsets feature an all-screen design, full-HD+ display, pop-up selfie camera, 4,000mAh battery, and mid-level internals. Notably, the Pro model is slated to go on sale in China from August 9, while the standard Honor 9X will be available starting July 30. Here's more.
Let's take a look at both the smartphones
To begin with, the Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X look similar with an all-screen design and a pop-up mechanism for the selfie camera. However, on the back, the Pro model houses triple cameras while the standard Honor 9X features dual cameras. Moreover, both the handsets sport a 6.59-inch full HD+ LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Honor 9X Pro houses a triple rear camera setup with 48MP (f/1.8) main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the Honor 9X gets dual rear cameras with 48MP (f/1.8) primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, both the handsets sport a 16MP (f/2.2) selfie snapper housed in a motorized pop-up module.
Under the hood
The Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X are powered by the same HiSilicon Kirin 810 octa-core chipset. However, the Pro model gets 8GB RAM and upto 256GB internal storage, while the standard Honor 9X comes with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. Under the hood, both the handsets run Android Pie-based EMUI 9.1 and pack a 4,000mAh battery.
Connectivity options and sensor details
In the connectivity department, both the Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X come with support for dual-SIMs (Nano), Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Lastly, both phones get all standard sensors including accelerometer, proximity, gyroscope, and compass.
Finally, what about pricing?
The Honor 9X Pro costs CNY 2,199 (Rs. 22,000) for 8GB/128GB variant, and CNY 2,399 (Rs. 24,000) for the 8GB/256GB model. On the other hand, the Honor 9X costs CNY 1,399 (Rs. 14,000) for the base-end 4GB/64GB model, CNY 1,599 (Rs. 16,000) for the mid-end 6GB/64GB variant, and CNY 1,899 (Rs. 19,000) for the top-end model with 6GB/128GB configuration.
