Honor 8X to launch in India on October 16
Huawei-owned Honor will launch its latest mid-range smartphone - the Honor 8X - in India on October 16. Notably, the phone was unveiled in China last month and hence there is hardly anything that is unknown. The Honor 8X features a full-HD+ notched display, AI-powered cameras, and a powerful mid-range Kirin 710 processor. Here's our roundup.
Honor 8X: At a glance
Right off the bat, the phone looks identical to other Honor offerings such as the Honor 9N and Honor Play. So, up front, there's an edge-to-edge notched display with a slim bottom bezel. Further, the back panel, which houses a dual rear-camera and fingerprint sensor, has a dual-tone gradient finish. The Honor 8X features a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340-pixels) display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
What about the camera?
The Honor 8X sports a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 20-MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, paired with a 2-MP secondary sensor, and an LED flash. The primary camera comes with several AI-powered features such as Portrait Mode, Scene Recognition, AI Beauty and Super Night Shot among others. Up front, the phone gets a 16-MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper and comes with AI-based Backlight Portrait Selfies features.
Under the hood
The Honor 8X is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 400GB). The phone packs a 3,750mAh battery and runs Android Oreo 8.1-based EMUI 8.2. Further, Honor has also offered Huawei's GPU Turbo technology that boosts graphics processing for gaming while reducing power consumption.
Honor 8X may be priced at around Rs. 15,000
In China, the Honor 8X 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,399 (approx Rs. 14,900). Likewise, the 6G/64GB model costs CNY 1,599 (around Rs. 17,100), while the top-end 6GB RAM/128GB storage model is priced at CNY 1,899 (approx. Rs. 20,300). Hence, taking cues from this pricing and the highly-competitive mid-range smartphone market in India, Honor 8X prices may start at Rs. 15,000.
