#MWC2018: HMD Global officially launches affordable Nokia 1 Android-Go smartphone
Nokia phone-maker HMD Global is all set to launch a bunch of new Android smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. The event has commenced, and HMD Global CPO Juho Sarvikas has already announced the company's much-awaited affordable Nokia 1 smartphone running the lightweight Android Oreo Go Edition. Nokia 1 costs €85 (Rs. 5,500) and will start shipping around April. Here's more.
A new Nokia feature phone that supports 4G connectivity
Juho Sarvikas also announced a new 4G feature phone named "Nokia 8110 4G". He said the new phone is for those who like the "ease of use" of feature phones He said Nokia 8110 4G supports Wi-Fi hotspot and comes with essential apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, Facebook, and Twitter. It would be available in May and starts at €79 (Rs. 6,285).
All-new Nokia 6 launched for Rs. 22,000
After launching two new phones, HMD Global CPO Sarvikas unveiled an upgraded version of last year's Nokia 6, calling it the "New Nokia 6". It is powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor. It would be available for €279 (approximately Rs. 22,000) from April. The revamped Nokia 6 comes with Zeiss lenses, supports Nokia's "Bothie" feature, wireless charging, and also has facial recognition feature.
Nokia 7 Plus finally unveiled; priced at Rs. 32,000
The much-awaited Nokia 7 Plus has also been launched for €399 (Rs. 31,700). Sporting a 6-inch 18:9 display, it is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC with 4GB RAM. HMD Global also promises a two-day battery. It has three cameras with Zeiss optics with a dual rear camera setup. With the new AI-powered Imaging Suite, users can add masks to their Bothies and animate characters.
Nokia 8 Sirocco: Flagship Nokia-device arrives with Rs. 60k price-tag
HMD Global has also unveiled a new flagship, Nokia 8 Sirocco, at the event. There are some "surprising changes" in the design of the new flagship. Over 95% of the Nokia 8 Sirocco's surface is covered by "3D" Gorilla Glass 5. It sports a curved 5.5-inch edge-to-edge pOLED display. It is priced at €749 (approximately Rs. 60,000) and will be released in April.
Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with dual rear camera setup
Nokia 8 Sirocco is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. It packs 3,260mAh battery and supports Qi wireless-charging, and fast-charging, too. The phone is water and dust resistant with an IP67 rating. However, it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. The flagship device features a 12MP+13MP dual rear-camera with Zeiss optics. It has a 5MP wide-angle selfie camera.
