Second-generation Nokia 6 unveiled; priced at Rs. 14,600
HMD Global has officially launched the second-generation Nokia 6 -its first smartphone of 2018- in China. The updated model will go on sale from 10 January in China. Its India debut is expected to happen soon; details about the global launch are yet to be revealed. Nokia 6 (2018) starts from CNY 1499 (Rs. 14,600 approximately). So, what's new in Nokia 6 (2018)?
Nokia 6 (2018) does have some noticeable changes in its looks and design like the slightly curved screen. The all-metal device features significantly thinner bezels. It comes with Nokia's signature "Bothie" camera feature, too. The fingerprint sensor is no longer embedded in the home button; it's shifted to the rear panel. The device now comes in two storage variants and more powerful processor.
What does the device have to offer?
Nokia 6 (2018) sports a 5.5-inch IPS Full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. It is powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). The 32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1499 (roughly Rs. 14,600) while the 64GB model costs CNY 1699 (around Rs. 16,600).
Cameras pretty much the same except Bothie feature
The camera hardware for the second-gen Nokia 6 is similar to the original model's camera hardware. The new device has a 16MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, auto-focus, and dual-tone LED flash and an 8MP selfie shooter. However, the latest model supports Nokia's "Dual-Sight" technology, allowing users to capture images/videos from both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, to click a "Bothie".
Nokia 6 (2018) to receive Oreo update
Nokia 6 (2018) runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. However, the device is expected to receive an Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. HMD Global has not officially revealed any details about the Oreo update. The smartphone houses a 3,000mAh battery; it also supports fast charging. The dual-SIM (Nano) device supports 4G VoLTE. It comes with USB Type-C and a 3.5mm audio port, too.
What about the Nokia 6 (2017)?
To recall, Nokia 6 (2017) has a metal unibody with a 5.5-inch HD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It houses a 3,000mAh battery. It runs Android Nougat out-of-the-box. It is equipped with an 8MP front-facing snapper and a 16MP rear shooter. The device was one of the best-selling Android-based Nokia phones.
