Tired of Siri? Access Alexa on Apple Watch: Here's how
Each smart assistant does something better than the other. However, there are restrictions when you wish to use multiple smart assistants, especially on wearables. So if you're tired of having to rely on Siri for your Apple Watch, you can try an unofficial work-around to access Amazon's Alexa on your smartwatch. And all you need is Voice in a Can app. Here's more.
About Voice in a Can
Developed by Atador, Voice in a Can is a third-party app which is available on the Apple App Store as a standalone Apple Watch app for $ 1.99. This means you won't require to tether to an iPhone to use Alexa. Just a Wi-Fi signal would do.
Here's how to get Alexa on your Apple Watch
To start, download and install Voice in a Can app on your Apple Watch. Now simply sync the app to your main Amazon Alexa account, and then tap on an icon in the app to bring up Alexa. Notably, you may have to increase the screen timeout settings for your Apple Watch because the app disconnects from Alexa service when the display goes blank.
However, not all the functionalities are available
While the idea of having Alexa on your Apple Watch is intriguing, it isn't really the same experience. Given this is a third-party app, you will not be able to use functions like asking Alexa to make a call, play music, or control Echo devices. However, you can control your smart home devices that are linked to the same Alexa account.
