Lenovo's foldable smartphone revealed, launch expected in October 2018
Back in 2016, Lenovo showcased its first foldable device prototypes. Then, a year later, the company introduced a more refined concept with its Lenovo Cplus - a foldable smartphone-cum-fitness band. And, now a video posted on Weibo suggests Lenovo has made its foldable smartphone ready, and could launch it as early as next month. Here's everything we know so far.

The video shows a tall handset with substantially large bezels both on top and bottom with a bendable display and chassis. Interestingly, the phone folds around a hinge and is seen to bend outwards, meaning it can be wrapped around the wrist and double-up as a smartwatch. Further, there are some black spots around the display's edges, suggesting this could be a prototype unit.
Lenovo's foldable phone will offer fitness capabilities, suggests software
The device is seen running a forked version of Android operating system. However, what's interesting to see is that the UI changes once the device is folded. The app drawer is pushed to the top and replaced by fitness-related features such as step count, calories burnt, and distance covered. This means the device can also be folded and worn as a smartwatch.
Lenovo is expected to launch the device next month
In a reply to the Weibo post, Lenovo informed users to stay tuned and hinted that some news about the foldable phone may come as early as October. But if we don't see a launch, we might get an official teaser next month.
