Everything we know about the 2018 Apple iPhone line up
In some weeks from now, Apple is expected to unveil its 2018 line up of iPhones. So far, several reports and leaks centered around the upcoming iPhones have given us a fair insight on what we can expect. In the latest update, a video showing the dummy units of the alleged iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9 have surfaced online. Here's everything we know about them.
Apple will unveil three new iPhones this year
The 2018 iPhone line up will have three variants: a new 5.8-inch iPhone X with OLED display, a 6.5-inch display iPhone X Plus with OLED display and a cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display. The 6.1-inch variant may either be named iPhone 9 (a successor to last year's iPhone 8) or iPhone SE 2 (an upgrade to the dated iPhone SE).
Apple could finally offer iPhones with dual-SIM support
In what will be unprecedented development, Apple is expected to offer dual-SIM card support on its upcoming iPhones. Earlier, reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the 6.1-inch iPhone 9 will support dual SIM while Bloomberg reported that the 6.5-inch iPhone X will get dual-SIM slots.
What does the hands-on video of dummy iPhones tell us?
The hands-on video compares an iPhone X with alleged dummy units of iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9. Moreover, iPhone X Plus is seen side-by-side with an apparent iPhone 8 Plus (5.5-inch display) and the former looks smaller while sporting a larger display (thanks to the notch). Lastly, iPhone 9 is seen featuring a single rear lens.
All three 2018 iPhones to get Face ID, A12 processors
Apple will not introduce a major design overhaul, but we expect bumped up internals on all the three iPhones. Moreover, both the OLED iPhones and LCD iPhone will feature improved Face ID, Apple A12 processors, faster LTE and other under-the-hood improvements.
iPhone X Plus schematics suggest triple lens camera setup
Notably, iPhone X Plus is said to feature a triple lens rear camera setup, according to the schematics, and this might be the only USP of the larger iPhone X which will cost upwards of $1000. However, can buyers settle for just an old 'S' upgrade Apple followed for years or will the world's richest company innovate like Vivo and OPPO?
And, finally how much will they cost?
Apple will launch its latest iPhones this fall, sometime around September. As for the pricing of these iPhones, Kuo suggests that Apple's low-end LCD screen iPhone with single SIM variant could sell for $550-650 while the dual-SIM model may get a price tag of $650-750. Moreover, the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus will be priced around $1000 price mark.
