Google brings Gemini's AI coding assistance to Android Studio
Google is elevating its Android Studio bot by integrating Gemini Pro technology into it. The move signifies the tech giant's ongoing commitment to product enhancement using its AI model. The upgraded Gemini Pro was initially introduced at the Google I/O developer event in May 2023. Now, this advanced technology is being launched in Android Studio Jellyfish version across more than 180 countries.
Developers will get improved answer quality in code completions
Earlier this year, Google also upgraded its Bard chatbot by replacing the base model from PaLM-2 with Gemini Pro. Similar to the Android Studio bot, the Gemini Pro bot operates within the integrated development environment (IDE), providing a platform for developers to ask coding-related questions. The new bot can answer coding-related questions, improve code completion, and provide enhanced debugging.
Google prioritizes user privacy with Gemini Pro
To ensure user privacy, Google requires users to log in and explicitly activate Gemini for use. The chatbot's responses are primarily based on the conversation history and context provided by the developer. Google also provides easy access to the Gemini API starter template via Android Studio, enabling developers to integrate AI-powered features into their apps.
