Reportedly, Google will release its own smartwatch this year
According to the Business Insider, 2018 might finally turn out to be the year when Google releases its own smartwatch. Based on inputs by reliable gadget tipster Evan Blass, the publication reported that Google's upcoming line-up of new products includes a smartwatch, to be released under the Pixel brand name. Till now, Google had relied on third-party products to incorporate its smartwatch software.
Google has three Pixel Watches lined up for 2018
Google's reliance on third-party smartwatch makers like LG, Fossil Group, and Movado, had been an effective strategy so far. However, Google has decided to give smartwatch making a go, and the Pixel Watch, with Google's Wear OS, is likely to debut in October this year. Reportedly, there are three Pixel Watches in the making, codenamed Ling, Triton, and Sardine.
What we know about the Pixel Watch range's specs
As of now, it's unclear whether the three watches are separate products, or different variations of the same smartwatch. What's known, however, is that the watches will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm's latest processor for Wear OS watches, and will have in-built GPS, and LTE support. The Pixel Watch range may also have heart-rate trackers and the ability to track users' stress levels.
