Google Stadia app is now available (not for Indian users)
Google Stadia, the upcoming cloud-based gaming service will be launched in 14 countries including the US, Canada, and the UK on November 19. And, ahead of its official debut, the Google Stadia app for Android is now available for all compatible devices via the Google Play Store. However, there is not much on offer since the service isn't live yet.
About the Stadia Android app
The Stadia app for Android is 75.08MB in size and is currently at version 1.45.278447916. When you launch the app, you're greeted with a splash page featuring Destiny 2 and then asked to log in with your Google account. Once you've confirmed the account, you're asked to enter the Stadia invite code. However, without a code, you can't explore other features right now.
Here's how you can get Stadia invite code
If you have already pre-ordered the Google Stadia Founder's Edition or Premiere Edition bundle, you will receive the invite code starting November 19. You can also access Google's upcoming game streaming service if you've received an invite code via Stadia Buddy Pass.
Google Stadia: Pricing and availability
Earlier in June, Google had announced that Stadia would be launched in 14 countries. However, it'll not go live in India anytime soon. The company had also confirmed that Stadia is not a subscription service and players will have to buy games. The 'Founder's Edition' costs $130 for the hardware and 3-months of subscription and subsequently, it'll cost $10/month.
Here's recalling Stadia gaming service
Stadia is a cloud-based gaming service wherein you can play video games on compatible apps or web browsers. Interestingly, unlike traditional gaming platforms, it doesn't require high-end gaming machines to play graphics-intensive games. Instead, Google's data centers and dedicated gaming hardware (2.7GHz x86 processors, 16GB RAM, and custom AMD GPUs) will help stream games on compatible devices in upto 4K resolution over the Internet.
Stadia will also be available on Pixel smartphones
Google Stadia will also be available on smartphones and the first devices to support the service will be Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and the newly launched Pixel 4. The service will be available on other smartphones at a later date.
