Google Chrome's new feature will let you mute noisy websites
Websites, which have the habit of auto-loading videos with sound, are a general nuisance. However, thanks to a new development, this will be a thing of the past. As per reports, Google is now beta testing a new feature that would let users mute a website within the Chrome Browser permanently, bringing the netizens a much-needed relief. Here's more about it.
What's it all about?
Earlier Google had introduced an indicator to flag guilty tabs. Moreover, if you right-click on a tab, you have the option to mute the website that it contains at that point of time. However, these are the fixes but not solutions. The mute feature that's being tested by the developers, currently, under the experimental 'Canary' version, will be a proper solution.
How to activate it?
It's pretty simple. All you've to do is click on the security status on the left side of the website address i.e. the one which lets you know whether the site is secure or not. The option to mute can be found in the list of details and permissions. This is a proper sound ban, as the mute will last unless you change the settings.
A win for the Internet
Once it's rolled on the Chrome, one can expect that other browsers will soon follow suit to make sure that they don't lose out their patrons. Also, this would be a proper warning to publishers to make sure that they don't have autoplay videos with sound, as doing so would lead to a forever sound ban on their website from netizens.
