Google's Gemini Live now available to free users
Google's conversational AI platform, Gemini Live, is now open to everyone, including free users. Originally a premium feature, it's now making its way to all Android phone users. Mishaal Rahman, a contributor for Android Police was the first to spot it on his Xiaomi 14T Pro. Another tech geek, CID, also confirmed its presence, but he found he couldn't tweak the AI's voice.
A new way to interact with AI
Gemini Live is not your typical Gemini. This one has a more interactive and chatty way of engaging with Google's AI. Instead of the usual typing methods, users can now enjoy a more fluid conversation with the AI. They can even switch topics mid-chat or interrupt without any hiccups, making the whole experience feel super humanlike.
Potential uses and current limitations
Gemini Live isn't just a chatbot; it's like having a smart buddy for brainstorming ideas, chatting about different topics, doing research, or even scheduling appointments and finding directions later on. But the catch? This early version comes with some limits. For now, it only speaks American English and is strictly for Android users. Plus, some folks have had a tough time switching up the AI's voice.
Gradual rollout of Gemini Live
Just like with many of its launches, Google is rolling out Gemini Live at a leisurely pace. So, not everyone will get to try it out right away. But hey, that's a good thing! It means Google is making a real effort to make AI accessible to everyone. So, keep an eye out for this awesome new feature on your Android device soon.
