Google's truly wireless Pixel Buds: Launch date, price, and features
Google's Pixel Buds, which were announced alongside the Pixel 4 series in October last year, are expected to be launched in the coming months. The earphones feature a truly wireless form-factor and look primed to take on the Apple AirPods Pro as well as Samsung Galaxy Buds+ with custom sound drivers, beam-forming mics, and chips that can process on-device computing.
Google Pixel Buds: At a glance
The Pixel Buds come with an in-ear design that we have seen on several other truly wireless earphones. However, Google's version comes with some refinements. The earbuds feature a water-resistant design and have a stabilizer arc, that combined with interchangeable ear-tip, offers a secure fit. The lower section also has a spatial vent that reduces stuffy, plugged-ear feeling by allowing in optimum environmental sound.
Pixel Buds come with several smart features
The Pixel Buds come with an Adaptive Sound feature which dynamically adjusts the volume depending on the environment sound. It also provides hands-free access to Google Assistant, allowing you to control music, send a quick text, or translate a foreign language by just saying "Hey Google." The earphones also pack dual noise-canceling microphones and a voice accelerometer that improves call quality.
Pixel Buds offer 5-hours of listening time on single charge
Google's Pixel Buds can be paired with any device that supports Bluetooth 4.0 or higher, and they are compatible with several operating systems including Android 6.0 or higher, iOS, Windows, and others. As for performance, the earphones provide 5 hours of listening time on a single charge and up to 24 hours of additional juice with the included wireless charging case.
Google Pixel Buds cost $179
Google Pixel Buds, priced at $179 (approx. Rs. 13,000), will be launched in the US and other international markets sometime later this year in Clearly White, Oh So Orange, Quite Mint and Almost Black colors. The tech giant was likely to announce the availability details at its I/O 2020 event (May 12-14) but it now stands canceled due to coronavirus outbreak.
