Pixel 9a design leaked: Is Google ditching signature camera bar?
The first look at Google's upcoming smartphone, the Pixel 9a, has been revealed through leaked renders. The images were obtained by Android Headlines from tipster @OnLeaks, the same source that previously leaked details about the Pixel 8a and the flagship Pixel 9 series. The most noticeable change in this new model is the absence of Google's signature visor-style camera housing.
Pixel 9a to feature a dual-camera setup at the back
The Pixel 9a is likely to sport a dual-camera setup, snugly fitted in a pill-shaped module that sits almost flush with the back of the phone. This design tweak is a shift from Google's signature camera bar we have seen on the previous models. Plus, there's a camera flash sitting to the right of this module, making it look a bit like an oversized version of the iPhone 7 Plus's rear.
Pixel 9a's body and screen design
The Pixel 9a's body looks a lot like the other devices in the Pixel 9 series and even the current iPhones, except for the camera module. The design has those slim bezels around the screen, keeping it in line with its predecessors. So, while Google is shaking things up with the camera housing design, it's still holding on to some classic elements from the older models.
Pixel 9a's potential software and hardware specifications
According to Android Headlines, the Pixel 9a will come with Android 15 out of the box. It could also be the last Google device to use a Samsung-based Tensor chip, as Google is planning to switch to TSMC for its future processors in 2025. However, these details are yet to be confirmed by Google. The tech giant usually launches its A-series phones in spring, often during the Google I/O event.
