
Google's rival to iPhone 16e, Pixel 9a, launched in India
What's the story
Google has officially launched the Pixel 9a in India. The smartphone acts as a more affordable variant of the flagship Pixel 9 series.
This year's model sports a refreshed design especially in its camera module. It packs a Tensor G4 chipset, a 5,100mAh battery, and runs on Android 15.
The rival to Apple's iPhone 16e will be available for purchase on Flipkart.

Pricing and availability
In India, the Pixel 9a costs ₹49,999 for the single model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The device can be purchased in four color options: Obsidian, Porcelain, Peony, and Iris. It will be up for grabs in April.

Display and processor
The Pixel 9a comes with a 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display (2,424x1,080 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and peak brightness of up to 2,700-nits.
The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
There is an in-display fingerprint reader for biometric authentication, along with support for Face Unlock.
On the inside, it is powered by the Google Tensor G4 chipset with Titan M2 security chip - just like the flagship Pixel series.

The smartphone features a 48MP primary camera with OIS, and a 13MP ultra-wide lens on its rear. For selfies, it packs a 13MP front-facing snapper.
The device supports 4K video recording at 30/60 FPS.
The camera setup supports many features like Macro Focus, Reimagine, Magic Eraser, Best Take, and Photo Unblur.
It houses a 5,100mAh battery with support for fast-charging, and delivers over 30 hours of battery life (100 hours when Extreme Battery Saver mode is enabled).

The Pixel 9a runs on Android 15 out of the box and will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates.
The device is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance, has stereo speakers, Car Crash Detection feature, Wi-Fi 6E support as well as NFC connectivity options.
It also includes eSIM support for added convenience.
