Made by Google 2024: How to watch, expected products, announcements
Google has announced that it will be hosting the Pixel 9 keynote event on August 13, at its headquarters in Mountain View, California. The event will begin at 10:00am PT (10:30pm IST) and will be followed by an "After Party." The keynote is expected to provide updates on Google AI and the newest Pixel devices, including the much-anticipated Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The event will be live-streamed on YouTube
The event, named Made by Google 2024, will be live-streamed on both the Android and Made by Google's YouTube channels. This year, Google has combined its Android (Platforms & Ecosystems, including Chrome) and hardware (Devices & Services) teams into a single entity called Platforms & Devices. The new team is led by Rick Osterloh, the former Senior Vice President of devices and services.
Pixel 9 series to include three models
The highlight of the Made by Google showcase will be the unveiling of the Pixel 9 lineup. This includes three traditional models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and a new addition - Pixel 9 Pro XL. The latter is expected to feature a larger screen than its counterparts. All three phones are rumored to have a revamped camera module, with leaks suggesting high-resolution lenses and significant RAM capacity for the standard and Pro variants.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Android 15 details
Google is also set to unveil its second foldable phone- the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This device would feature a sleek redesign, with a less pronounced crease and a more polished appearance. Additionally, Google will reveal more information on Android 15 and its public rollout. The company may also focus on the AI-powered features of the new handsets, including Gemini, which will be more deeply integrated into Android 15.
Google may also reveal new accessories at the event
Besides the new smartphones, Google may also reveal some accessories such as Pixel Buds Pro 2 and a new Pixel Watch. The Pixel Watch 3 may feature thinner bezels, increased display size, and an "Actua" display with 2,000-nits peak brightness. The Made by Google 2024 event marks a break from tradition as it's being held in August instead of October. This move could be an attempt by Google to get ahead of the iPhone 16 lineup.
