Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL launched
Google has introduced its latest smartphones, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL in India. They are powered by the advanced Tensor G4 SoC and come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. All three models are equipped with a Titan M2 security chip, and promise seven years of Android updates as well as security patches.
Pricing and availability
The Pixel 9 is priced at ₹79,999 for the sole 12GB/256GB model available in India. The Pro models are priced higher, with the Pixel 9 Pro retailing at ₹1,09,999 for the 16GB/256GB version and the Pixel 9 Pro XL costing ₹1,24,999 for its equivalent variant. The new lineup will be available via Flipkart, Croma, and Reliance Digital retail outlets starting August 22.
Design and display
Pixel 9 is available in four colors: Peony, Porcelain, Obsidian, and Wintergreen. The Pro models come in Hazel, Porcelain, Rose Quartz, and Obsidian. The Pixel 9 features a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover. Pixel 9 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch Super Actua (LTPO) OLED screen with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz-120Hz. Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch SuperActua (LTPO) OLED panel. Both boast Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection as well.
A look at the camera setup
Pixel 9 boasts a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and a secondary 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera is a 10.5MP selfie shooter with autofocus. The Pro models feature a triple rear camera setup including an additional 48MP telephoto lens with up to 30x Super Res Zoom and 5x optical zoom, and house a superior front camera of 42MP resolution. The camera setup offers AI features including Magic Eraser, Best Take, Photo Unblur, and Night Sight.
Performance and battery
The Pixel 9 is backed by a 4,700mAh battery with wired fast charging support and Qi-certified wireless charging. The Pixel 9 Pro packs a similar battery while the Pixel 9 Pro XL gets a slightly larger 5,060mAh cell. In terms of performance, both the standard and Pro models feature the latest Tensor G4 chipset. However, the Pro model offers more RAM at 16GB compared to the standard model's 12GB.
