Hours before launch, Google Pixel 3a's full specifications leaked
In some hours from now, Google will launch its first-ever mid-range smartphones at its I/O 2019 event. Dubbed as Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, the new devices will arrive as stripped down versions of the flagship Pixel 3 models. However, Google will have very little to surprise us as the full specifications of Pixel 3a have already leaked online. Here's our roundup.
Google Pixel 3a: At a glance
The Google Pixel 3a will sport a notch-less display with prominent bezels, a single camera, and a fingerprint sensor - similar to the Pixel 3. However, unlike the flagship model, the phone will feature a polycarbonate body and surprisingly, a headphone jack as well. Further, it will offer a 5.6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2220 pixels) OLED display with 18:9 display, and support for Always-On display.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Pixel 3a will sport a 12.2MP (f/1.8) rear camera with dual-pixel phase detection, OIS, and EIS. Up front, it'll have an 8MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper. The main camera will offer 4K recording at 30fps while the front camera will support 1080p videos at 30fps. The phone will also support Pixel Visual Core image processing chip, Night Sight for low-light photography and Google Lens.
Under the hood
The Pixel 3a will be powered by Snapdragon 670 processor, paired with 4GB RAM, 64GB of onboard storage and Titan M security chip. Under the hood, it will house a 3,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and run stock Android Pie. The phone will also offer stereo speakers, Active Edge sensors for squeeze gestures, and ARCore support.
Connectivity options and sensors on board Pixel 3a
In terms of connectivity options, the Pixel 3a will support Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 LE with AptX, AptX HD, and LDAC support, NFC, Google Cast, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. It will also come with all the standard sensors including an accelerometer, compass, and proximity sensor.
Google will also unveil a Pixel 3a XL model
Alongside the Pixel 3a, Google will also launch a bigger Pixel 3 XL. This model will retain the same design and specs as the Pixel 3a but with a larger 6-inch screen with 1080x2160 pixels resolution and a Snapdragon 710 processor.
Pricing and availability
Google is expected to announce its lower-cost Pixel 3a phones today at the I/O 2019 event in Mountain View, California. Meanwhile, in India, Flipkart has teased the launch of these phones on May 8. As for price, Pixel 3a XL in 6GB/64GB configuration is tipped to arrive at Rs. 44,999. Hence, we can expect the lower spec-ed variants to sell for a cheaper price.
