Google Pixel 3a to launch in India on May 8
The much-anticipated Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will launch in India on May 8, according to a Flipkart teaser. The e-commerce giant has activated a microsite, saying "Something big is coming to the Pixel universe" referring to the Pixel 3a series. The upcoming line-up will be Google's first mid-range offering with some features of the flagship Pixel 3 range. Here's our roundup.
Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL: At a glance
As per renders, both phones will sport a notch-less rectangular display with prominent bezels, plastic chassis, and headphone jack. On the back, they'll feature a single camera, and fingerprint sensor - similar to Pixel 3 flagships. Reportedly, Pixel 3a will get a 5.6-inch AMOLED display with 1080x2220 pixels resolution while the Pixel 3a XL will get a larger 6-inch screen with 1080x2160 pixels resolution.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
As per leaks, both Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will come with a single 12.2MP rear camera and a single 8MP selfie snapper. These sensors are expected to be borrowed from the flagship range. Moreover, the lower-cost models will also offer Pixel 3's Night Sight low-light photography feature and may even support Google's Pixel Visual Core chip for improved image processing.
Under the hood
Under the hood, the Pixel 3a is tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 670 chipset while Pixel 3a XL will get a Snapdragon 710 processor. Further, both models are likely to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. These phones are also said to sport Pixel 3's "Active Edge" feature and support fast charging via a USB Type-C port.
Pricing and availability
As per leaks, the Google Pixel 3a (codenamed "Sargo") with 64GB of storage will cost CAD 650 (approximately Rs. 34,000). On the other hand, the bigger Google Pixel 3a XL (codenamed "Bonito") with 64GB of storage will be priced at CAD 800 (approximately Rs. 41,500). As for availability, we expect the phones to be globally unveiled on May 7 at Google's 2019 I/O event.
