Google's latest flagship, the Pixel 3, is the best single-camera smartphone, according to DxOMark Image Labs. In its review, the camera benchmarking site has given Pixel 3 an overall score of 101, making it share the top-spot with Apple's best-selling flagship of the year, the iPhone Xr. Further, the Google-made smartphone did beat iPhone Xr in the overall video score. Here's everything to know.

DxOMark is a benchmarking website that tests different types of cameras - smartphone cameras to digital cameras and lenses. Several industry-standard tests are conducted wherein 1,500+ images and 2+ hours of video are captured and examined in controlled lab environments and in natural indoor/outdoor scenes.
Here's how the Pixel 3 performed in the DxOMark tests
Pixel 3 scored 103 in the photo test and 98 in the video test. DxO lauded the Google flagship for its "dynamic range, detail preservation and flash performance in photos" as well as "low-noise and efficient stabilization in videos". It also observed some "luminance noise and color shading in low-light images" while noting that Pixel 3 offered "improved Bokeh and Zoom" than Pixel 2.
Pixel 3 beats iPhone Xr in video score
Though Pixel 3 matched iPhone Xr's photo score of 103, it beat the Apple offering by two points in the video category to score 98 points. Moreover, with overall 101 points, both phones share the fifth rank on the DxOMark Mobile camera rating.

While Pixel 3 and iPhone Xr share the fifth spot, Huawei P20 takes the fourth place by scoring 102. The third rank is shared by Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and HTC U12+. All three have scored 103. On second, with 104 points, there's iPhone Xs Max. Finally, leading the table is Huawei P20 Pro with an overall score of 109.
