Google to launch affordable Pixel 3 Lite smartphone in 2019
Thanks to some really credible leaks, we know Google is working on the affordable variants of its Pixel 3 flagships. Dubbed as Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite, these phones have been leaked in full glory on two separate occasions. And now, Android Police claims that Google will launch the Pixel 3 Lite models "in early spring 2019". Here's everything we know.
Pixel 3 Lite, Pixel 3 XL Lite: At a glance
Up front, both the phones will feature a notch-free rectangular display with prominent bezels, plastic chassis and a headphone jack positioned at the top edge. On the back, there's a dual-tone finish, single camera, and fingerprint sensor - all reminiscent of the Pixel 3 flagships. Further, Pixel 3 Lite will sport a 5.56-inch full-HD+ display while the larger model will get a 6-inch screen.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
Given Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagships share roughly the same specifications (internals and optics), we can expect to see the same trend on the cheaper Pixel 3 Lite pair. As per previous leaks, both the Pixel 3 Lite and its XL variant will come with a 12MP rear camera and a single 8MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood
Again, leaks suggest both the phones will be powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Under the hood, both the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite will pack 2,915mAh battery and run Android Pie out of the box.
Pricing and availability
The Russian tech blog, which leaked the Pixel 3 Lite, speculated that phone could be priced anywhere between $400-500 (approx. Rs. 28,000-Rs. 35,000). This pricing is significantly lower than the price of the Pixel 3 which starts at Rs. 71,000. As for availability, Android Police claims Google may launch these new Pixel Lite smartphones on Verizon network in early spring 2019 (March-May period).
