Google Pixel 3 Lite's hands-on video reveals specifications and design
Courtesy leaked renders and hands-on images, we know Google is working to launch two new Pixel smartphones. Dubbed as Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite, these models will arrive as affordable alternatives to the current Pixel 3 flagships. Now, a hands-on video of the Pixel 3 Lite has revealed the phone's specifications and design features in vivid detail. Here's everything we know.
Google Pixel 3 Lite: At a glance
The Pixel 3 Lite looks a lot like Pixel 3 flagship with a notch-free rectangular screen and sizeable bezels, single rear-camera, colored power button, USB Type-C, and dual-tone finish on the back. However, the chassis is now plastic and there is only one selfie camera and a single bottom-firing speaker. Further, it will feature a 5.56-inch (1080x2160 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Welcome surprise: Pixel 3 Lite will have a headphone jack
Back in 2017, Google had removed the headphone jack from its Pixel 2 lineup and the same was absent on the recently launched Pixel 3 flagships. However, the video reveals a 3.5mm jack on the top edge of Pixel 3 Lite, suggesting a welcome change.
Pixel 3 quality photos on an affordable Pixel 3 Lite
On the back, the Pixel 3 Lite will house a 12.2MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS - similar to the Pixel 3's main camera. The selfie camera on the budget Pixel 3 will be an 8MP sensor. Further, the Pixel 3 Lite should get most (if not all) of Google's computational photography features.
Under the hood
According to the leak, Pixel 3 Lite will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor, paired with Adreno 615 GPU, 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage. And while the storage is below what competition offers, we expect Google to offer some (hopefully, unlimited) free cloud storage for photos and videos. Lastly, the phone will pack a 2,915 mAh battery and run Android Pie out-of-the-box.
Google will reportedly launch Pixel 3 Lite smartphones in Spring
Recently, Android Police claimed that Google will launch Pixel 3 Lite models "in early spring 2019" i.e. sometime around the March-May period. Further, back in November, a Russian tech blog speculated that phone could be priced anywhere between $400-500 (approx. Rs. 28,000-35,000). Notably, this pricing is significantly lower than the price of the Pixel 3 which starts at Rs. 71,000.
