Google Pixel 3 will officially be launched on October 9
What's the story
There's a lot of hype surrounding the Google Pixel 3 smartphone, and there have been repeated leaks about its design and specs.
Tired of leaks, Google has now decided to take the Pixel 3 story into its own hands, and has announced that the phone will see an official launch on October 9 in New York.
Here's what we know about it.
Design
Leaked images have already made us aware of the design
Thanks to a barrage of leaks, almost everyone now knows what Google's Pixel 3 line-up will look like.
Google is expected to launch two variants - the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL, and leaked images of the latter have pointed towards a 6.2-inch notched display.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 3 will have a 5.5-inch traditional display with no notch.
Specs
What we know about the Pixel 3's specs so far
Both variants of the Pixel 3 are expected to house the same hardware underneath.
The devices will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and 4GB RAM.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers, Google has included 12MP rear camera, and dual 8MP front cameras.
The devices will support wireless charging too, and will come with bundled Pixel Buds in the box.
Pixel phones
Google should have better quality control measures this time
Last year's Pixel phones i.e. the Pixel 2 line-up, were widely lauded for their impeccable camera quality.
However, the Pixel 2 line-up was marred by several issues such as OLED burn-in, device slow down, rear camera shutdowns, and other issues.
If anything, Google should learn from these mistakes, and it's expected that the tech giant will have stricter quality control measures this time.
